This time, at ABFriday Forum, I wanted to finish my last submitted work, from week 16, and just turned the same image into Black and White. Why? Well, I think this would give a classic and more realistic aspect to the image than that, more fantastic or surreal, of the previous one. Otherwise, B&W version dissimulates (even more) an important detail more noticeable in the color one. What do you think? Are you able to notice it?!

I wasn’t too keen on the before image as the sky and the foreground didn’t match, knowing now it was the middle step makes more sense and the black and white image is very strong.

Hi, Jaime! I am really glad you took this photo into the next step and made it B&W. While the before is, as you fantastical, the after is much more pleasing to my eye. The sky provides a bit of foreboding, which definitely works with how you’ve processed the building. A much more balanced final result! As for what detail is less noticeable in the B&W? I’ve clicked on the large versions of both images, and I’m thinking it’s the person in the middle of the steps on the right? He/she blends into those steps in the B&W version, but not in the color. Is that the answer you were looking for?

Well, it has nothing to do with the person in the steps; the unnoticeable detail I mentioned is, no more and no less, than the facade. Actually, what you see as the front of the building is not real, it’s just a large banner showing the aspect that the church will show off after finishing the restoration works taking place at the moment. Interesting, isn’t it?!
