After-Before Friday Week 2

This post is intended to be my contribution to Stacy Fischer’s (Visual Venturing) great proposal of a new photography forum, After-Before Fraiday. Wishing the best success and expecting to find lots of good photography edition samples from many enthusiasts of good images.

This photo corresponds to a detail of the “Castillo de San Felipe de Barajas” in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia.

The Image edition was made in Photoshop CS3. As the original Before version is badly exposed, I made some adjustments in levels and contrast to highlight the textures in the castle walls as well as getting some details in the sky. Also, increased the bright and contrast of the flag in order to obtain more vibrant colors which make a great contrast with the ochre tones of the walls. Finally, I severely cropped the image to eliminate the empty spaces; getting, that way, a composition where, taking advantage of the angle from the picture was taken, both the tower as the flag were the true protagonists of the photo.

I hope you enjoy it as well as the rest of the submissions to this interesting After-Before Friday week 2 forum!
